The Joy Luck Club

For this redesign of The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, I was challenged with creating a book jacket that serves as a "stage" set for the story to unfold. Using only tangible 3D elements for typography and texture, a crafted a composition that represents the novel's themes of Chinese heritage, mother-daughter relationships, and cultural identity.

The arrangement of the design alludes to the layered narratives within the book, and the red string as typography interacts with its surrounding environment to bring the visual identity together. This project challenged me to think beyond traditional 2D design and transform type into a sculptural element that invites readers into the world of the story.
